Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level. The typical assessment consists of a 40% coursework component and a 60% close book examination.
  • 1. Business Economics
    • This module enables students to apply the understanding of microeconomics and macroeconomics theories with quantitative methods to analyse business enterprises and the factors contributing to the diversity of organisational structures and the relationships of firms with labour, capital and product markets. It provides students with an appreciation of providing practical information to people who apply economics in their jobs.
  • 2. Human Resource Management
    • This module aims to provide students with an in depth understanding of Human Resource Management (HRM) as a strategic and operational level activity. Students will be exposed to the selection processes, performance appraisal process and training, strategic HRM and also methods used in employee development.
  • 3. Business Impact and Practice (Project)
    • This module engages the student in a focussed business project. It provides a focus of preparation, practice, reflection and development, for critical hard and soft management and leadership skills, particularly in the project environment. It facilitates and develops students
  • 4. Directing Strategy for Value Creation
    • The module aims to facilitate critical enquiry in directing/managing strategy, predicated upon the objective of creating and sustaining value, within the contextual settings of different organisational forms and the dynamics of a changing environment. Develop student understanding of contemporary strategic management challenges faced in the creation of stakeholder value, the importance of integration and their implications for organisational and managerial practices
  • 5. International Leadership, Power & Policy
    • This module enables students to apply a critical knowledge and understanding of leadership in the hospitality industry in sectoral, national and international contexts. Students need to identify a range of problems in connection with leadership and leadership styles in contemporary hospitality industry, apply critical analysis and evaluation of theory and understanding forefront issues to attempt to provide solutions to these complex issues.
  • 6. Financial Management
    • This module is designed for finance and business students to enable them to present and apply theories of corporate finance. Students will learn about the goals of managerial finance and the roles of financial managers and be exposed to financial and ratio analysis and its limitations. The core areas cover Financial Forecasting, Planning and Budgeting; Management of Working Capital; Sources of Finance; Time Value of Money and Capital Investment Appraisal; Capital Budgeting; Cost of Capital; Leverage and Capital Structure and Dividend Policy.
  • 7. International Marketing
    • The module addresses the challenges of leading and managing the development and refinement of organisation strategy in the shaping of international marketing context. Management and leadership, entrepreneurial knowledge and skills will also be addressed. It challenges students to create a plan for the launch of a product or service into a new international market, which requires students to conduct a detailed study and analysis of the context.
  • 8. Operations and Supply Chain Management
    • This module enables students to solve complex business problems relating to the journey of products and services from the manufacturer or provider to the end customer. Students will gain an understanding of the techniques required for managing and improving the integration of design, resources, processes and customer requirements. Students learn operations management, business process design, supply chain management, business logistics, production planning and scheduling, and quality management.
  • 9. Introduction to Behavioural Finance
    • This module provides an introduction to a relatively new area in economics and finance that focuses on alternative theories of risk-taking behaviour and biases in information processing that influence financial decision-making. The module examines two inter-related questions: what are the psychological mechanisms of individuals
